Dear Students and Faculty,

Anaheim University is proud to announce and invite you to the two exciting upcoming events in the AU Seminar Series.

The first is on February 26th with:

Ms. Miyako Tanaka-Oulevey

1988 Seoul Olympic Games Bronze Medal - synchronized swimming duet

And the second is on March 11th with:

Mr. Darren Huston, Microsoft Japan CEO & President

Both presentations will be followed by an open-floor Question and Answer session, where the speakers will respond to questions posed by audience members on the topic of their choice.


Sink or Swim: How to Enhance your Performance through Stress Management

Former Olympic Bronze Medalist Miyako Tanaka-Oulevey will be speaking on "Sink or Swim: How to Enhance your Performance through Stress Management". Whether you want to win in sports or win in business, there are several concepts that remain the same, and Miyako Tanaka-Oulevey will speak about:

About Ms. Miyako Tanaka-Oulevey

Ms. Miyako Tanaka-OuleveyMs. Tanaka-Oulevey represented Japan at the 1988 Seoul Olympics as part of a synchronized swimming duet team and won a bronze medal. Since retiring from the competitive sport after the Seoul Olympics, she has turned her efforts to coaching, TV commentating, teaching, book publishing and public speaking on such topics as the "Psychology of Winning for Women" and an "Athletes Guide to Career Planning".

Along with her current TV and public speaking commitments, Ms. Tanaka-Oulevey also lectures to undergraduate students at Meji University and at the School of Medicine Nihon University both based in Tokyo, Japan and Tsukuba University in Tsukuba, Ibraki Prefecture, Japan. Ms. Tanaka-Oulevey lectures on topics such as Career Transition in Sports, Career Planning in Sports, Teamwork and Leadership Skills for an MD, Communication Skills for an MD, and EQ in Doctor/Client Relationships.



About Mr. Darren Huston, MBA

Mr. Darren Huston, Microsoft Japan CEO & PresidentDarren Huston became president and CEO of Microsoft Japan on July 1, 2005. Founded 20 years ago and with a workforce of more than 2,000 employees, Microsoft Japan is Microsoft’s second-largest subsidiary. Also, because Japan is home to some of the world’s most advanced consumer and commercial technology, Microsoft Japan plays a major role in supporting the company's broad initiatives and objectives.

Huston joined Microsoft in September 2003 as corporate vice president of the Small and Mid-Market Solutions & Partners Group in the United States.

Before joining Microsoft, Huston was a senior vice president at Starbucks Coffee Company. At Starbucks, Huston led acquisitions, alliances and new product development. Notably, he led the rollout of the Starbucks Card and Wi-Fi to Starbucks stores around the world.

Before Starbucks, Huston was an executive in McKinsey & Company’s marketing and strategy practices, working with senior business leaders across a variety of industries. Before McKinsey, Huston was an economic advisor in the Canadian government, helping to negotiate the 1992 Earth Summit and the original global accords on climate change and biodiversity.

Huston has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Trent University in Canada, a master’s degree in economics from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from Harvard University. Huston is also a graduate of the United World College in Trieste, Italy.


Take the opportunity to come and listen to two diverse and interesting speakers, in an intimate setting at Anaheim University`s Akio Morita Learning Center, Minami Aoyama, Tokyo.

The Ms. Miyako Tanaka-Oulevey seminar will be held on Tuesday February 26th, 2008 from 7:30pm.

The Mr. Darren Huston seminar will be held on Tuesday March 11th, 2008 from 7:30pm. There is no charge for attendees.
